there today and joe biden on thursday. i want to put up a quote from my friend rory cooper who said "the des moines register" enl dorised carter, mondale, gore and couldn't endorse another four years of obama. wow. you see folks on the left dismissing the value of this. on the right they'll make a big deal about it. i came upon a fun study from 2008. brown university economists found that when moderate papers endorse they're seen as mort credible. when a partisan paper does it, not so much. when the chicago sun times and "denver post" endorsed kerry and bush, the study found 3% of readers switched voting allegiance. they flipped their allegiances in 2000. i have to say, i think an interesting number that matters is when you compare the endorsement numbers, obama has 34 endorsement from major, significant papers. romney has 27. look at the circulation of those endorsements. obama's total just over 9 million readers. >> 27? >> and mitt romney is at 27 and not 7. his total circulation just under 5 million. so i don't know that this is a scientific reading of those numbers, but you have

politics, vice president biden went on david letterman's show last night to read his top ten list. >> oh, joe, the subject, the top ten reasons to vote early. here's some of the highlights. >> if you vote early you don't have to pay taxes. i'm sorry, i'm being told that's not accurate >> that's not accurate. number two. >> early voters receive a $5 million donation from donald trump. >> wow! and the number one good thing about voting early, ladies and gentlemen -- >> honestly, don't you want this election over with already? >> yes, we do! >> i think we all do. >> i love that. >> that was good. >> that was good. >> congrats to letterman's writers. >>> what's coming up, we'll introduce you to a 99-year-old woman who's rocking the vote for the first time in her life. >> great story. >>> first a live look at the country music awards with our media and entertainment consultant bruno del granado who won big, who looked great. all that and more when "world news now" comes right back. i'm only in my 60's... i've got a nice long life ahead. big plans. so when i found out medicare doesn't pay all

then vice president biden was supposed to be there but had to cancel, as well. the president, in florida, really. they're keeping a close eye on the important battleground states, all of them. and jim avalon is in virginia, a state that president obama won four years ago, and a state mitt romney would really love to have in his column ten days from now. everybody would love to have every single state in their column. so why is virginia -- first of all, how are you doing? why is virginia so important to the election? >> reporter: i'm doing great, we'll talk to students at washington university in just a bit. virginia is one of the three big swing states, florida, virginia, ohio, the path of the battleground bus that we have been on. virginia is fascinating, because president obama was the first democrat to win it since lyndon johnson, in 1964. the population is growing, more diverse now. now the population growth, frankly well to the north of virginia was to his benefit in 2008. right now, the economy here in virginia, pretty good compared to the rest of the country, 8% national.

be in ohio instead. and vice president biden was supposed to be in virginia beach today but had to call it off. president obama campaigns in florida tomorrow. ncht >>> ohio will be the focus over the next ten days and the latest cnn/orc poll shows why. obama is leading 50% to 46% basically unchanged since earlier this month and well within the poll's sampling error. we're going to spend a lot of time this hour hearing from the first lady, michelle obama, and mitt romney's wife, ann romney. two fascinating women and strong advocates for their successful and ambitious husbands. at the bottom of the hour we'll bring you a special of "the journey of ann romney." she tells our own gloria borger that some people have the wrong impression of her husband. >> there are a lot of charges about your husband. one of them is that he's somebody who has no core. that he's been on both sides of a lot of issues. >> and that's just to me like the most false charge there is. because i know his core. >> what is his core? >> honesty, integrity, decency, intelligence, conviction to doing the right thing.
